Mechanical Engineering Department started in the Year 1984. It offers 3 years Diploma Programme with an AICTE intake of 60 and the Department is affiliated to the Department of Collegiate and technical education, and Board of Technical Examinations, Government of Karnataka. The Department was covered under Grant-in Aid by the Government of Karnataka in the year 2001.The program was accredited in 2005 for a period of 3 years by National Board of Accreditation. Faculty is committed to encourage the students to undergo various skill development training programmes like CNC/VMC Operating and programming, CAD/CAM which makes the teaching learning environment conducive for all types of students to fulfill their dreams. Department has good interactions and MoUs with the Industries to organize Industry invited lectures, Seminars, Industry visits, In-plant training. The students of Mechanical Engineering Department are placed in various companies and many of Alumni are working in abroad. We are proud to mention here that 35 batches passed out since inception of the program.
The course will provide a mix of theory and practical training. Every student also produces a group project, usually carried out with four or five other students. The group project involves the design, manufacture, assembly, and testing of project .The project work will boost the confidence of the students.
In the year 2013-14, shift programme started with an AICTE sanctioned intake of 60. The Department is proud that 6 batches passed out since inception.
To develop a programme with excellence in teaching and learning to produce compatible Mechanical Engineers with ethical values and social responsibilities.
The mission of the Mechanical Engineering Program is to benefit the society at large by
Mission-1: Imparting quality technical education to students providing excellent Teaching learning Environment and through competitive curriculum.
Mission-2: To develop innovative skills to identify problems in the industry and academia and be able to develop practical solutions to them.
Mission-3: To provide experiences in leadership, teamwork, communications — oral, written and hands-on activities, with the help of structured and unstructured real-life projects.
Mission-4: To encourage ethical values and environmental concern in the minds of students so as to work towards the growth of the society.
PEOs of the department are as follows
PEO-1: To prepare students for successful careers in industry or to become an entrepreneur.
PEO-2: To provide students a strong foundation in mathematics, science, and sound basic theoretical knowledge along with required practical skills in the core areas of Mechanical Engineering to demonstrate technical excellence.
PEO-3: To inculcate team work capabilities and communication skills among students through Seminars, projects and industry interactions.
PEO-4: To commit the students towards environmental issues, professional ethics, social responsibilities and lifelong learning.
The Diploma Programme in Mechanical Engineering will demonstrate:
PSO1: The knowledge of advanced software tools in the areas of drafting, manufacturing and analysis.
PSO2: The knowledge of advanced machine tools in manufacturing quality products.
